You need a: 

 

Simulator: Optional, but highly recommended, especially to new flyers. Master the basics on your simulator instead of putting your plane at risk. e.g. Phoenix RC (can be purchased from most local hobby shops)

 

Radio: You need at least 5 channels and it has to be programmable. 2.4GHz frequency is highly recommended. e.g. Spectrum DX6/7 (find out from your local dealer)

 

Plane: It is important to start with a proper plane, not an entry level (Chinese) kit, as these planes are generally limited in their capability. They will only discourage you. Rather buy one of our recommended kits or something similar. Price-wise, they cost more or less the same. e.g.
